introducing...

I can't believe that I have yet to formally introduce the newest member of our family. (Guess I was on a bit of a hiatus when he joined our ranks.)

Gray has long been a boy in need of a dog.

We finally decided it was almost cruel to deny our sweet boy a loving companion any longer. So for Gray's 6th birthday, back in October, we gave him a collar and leash, 2 dog bowls, and a box of Milk Bones. We thought he would immediately know what was going on. But we were wrong. He was happy about the gifts, but didn't say a word about getting a dog. So I finally asked him if he knew why we gave him those presents. He said, "Yea, you want me to turn into a dog!" Which, by the way, he was more than willing to do.

So, we spelled it out for him. Then Rich and I took Gray to Lollypop Farm to find his new best friend.

When Gray and I saw Baker, it was definitely love at first sight! He was a new arrival at the shelter, and you could just see how scared and confused the poor little fellow was.

We could not have custom-ordered a better fit for our family! (I still cannot believe that anyone could have given him up for adoption!) He's wonderful with kids, he leaves Aldo (our kitty) alone for the most part, he's house-trained, he doesn't chew things he's not supposed to, he's playful, and he's downright adorable!

Sometimes, you just get lucky...and this sure was one of those times!

Oooh, he's too adorable! I'm so glad you guys have a new canine member of the family. What breed or breeds is he? And you're so lucky he does well with kids, doesn't chew and is house-broken, what a find!!! I'm so glad you rescued a dog rather than buying one at a petstore, you get a big ole gold star for that :)

He's very cute!!! And what a sweet story about Gray thinking you wanted him to turn into a dog. That made me smile!

Congratulations on your new family member.

take care,
