utterly hopeless

That's me. What has gotten into me?!! I'm joining yet ANOTHER book challenge! Hosted by Maggie Reads, this one is the Southern Reading Challenge. Who am I kidding here? I guess I'm going to have to send Annie back to school, hire a maid (yeah, don't I wish?!!), and order take-out for the next several months so I can actually complete these challenges, huh? Oh well, what is it they say...nothing ventured, nothing gained.

So anyway, here is my list:
1. A Time to Kill by John Grisham
(because it's been sitting in the bookcase for ages)
2. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
(because I think I'm the only person who hasn't read it)
3. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
(because I love this book, and it's been far too long since I last read it, and Annie and I are going to discuss this one for home-school next fall anyway)

I LOVE Southern authors. Love them. Of course I'll have to do this too which makes me just as utterly hopeless.

Secret Life of Bees was one of those books that everyone said,"Oh,you must read that" and I put it off and then when I finally did, I wished I'd read it sooner LOL. My son (the 17 year old) read it after me and when he was done, he went and bought us both Cokes and a package of salted peanuts that we could have together (which you'll "get" after you read the book :P )

I read the Secret Life of Bees a couple of years ago and really liked it. I've been thing of reading To Kill a Mocking Bird again. I haven't read it since high school!

take care,
Dawn

You must REALLY love to read! I love to read, but just don't seem to have time anymore. Of course, I read blogs all day, but I don't have to concentrate so much, so having a 2 year old running around is no big deal. But to sit down and read an actual book? I miss those days!

Oh, I checked out your 2peas gallery - you have some awesome lo's there!

I'm thrilled you have committed or "been committed" to reading these books! :D

Wow, girl, you're the Challenge Queen! I should probably do this one, being Southern and loving Southern authors, but I'm in a decidedly non-challenge mood lately. These are good books though, and I really loved Bees. I read it last year and it was one of my favorite books I read all year. I'm several behind on Grisham, and hope to get a couple more of his read this year. Might need to read Mockingbird too - you've got a great set of books here :)

Happy Reading!

Ooooh! Have you started "A Time to Kill" yet? Be careful! The rape chapters in the beginning are very disturbing/graphic.

If you will email me lettinggomom@gmail.com, I'll give you an invite to my blog. Long story.

You ARE the challenge queen! But those are some good southern books I'd heartily recommend. Read Bees last year and liked it. And I told Stacy yesterday she should read Mockingbird, we saw it in Sam's but I probably have an old copy from the kids required reading here.

A Time to Kill is my favorite John Grisham novel! And To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite all-time book. A great list. I keep putting off joining this challenge....but I know I'll be in it eventually!
