words on Wednesday

I've got two weeks worth of words this week, since I somehow forgot last week. Guess it was the 4th of July and all. At least that sounds like a plausible excuse, huh? Better than admitting my brain just doesn't work like it used to.

*entrada-permission or the right to enter (from The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan)

*salubrious-conducive or favorable to health or well-being (also from The Worst Hard Time)

*ecchymosis-a contusion or bruise (from Terminal Condition by David Shobin)

And there you have it. How many of them did you know?

I think I've heard of that first one before and the 2nd sounds vaguely familiar but didn't know the definition!

Knew the first two, but not ecchymosis. Definitely one to try to work into conversation. :-)

Jean-

I agree with you...I like that word, and it shouldn't be too hard to add to one's regular vocabulary. In fact, I'm currently covered in ecchymoses due to a more than slightly embarrassing fall over the weekend.

Well then, my brain is right there with yours. Not familiar with the first or third, but have heard of the second. Couldn't have given you a definition though! ;)

You're a good motivator - I made a list of words today too. :)

Yikes, I didn't know these either. You're killing me with these, I feel dumber and dumber :)
