Like I already said, No.
So onto other book news...
I finished my second of eight for the Newbery Challenge a couple nights ago. Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. I hate even saying this, but I was somewhat disappointed in this book. It may be that I just had overly high expectations for it. I don't know. I've read more children's and YA lit lately than I have in a very long time. And I've read a few that I really fell in love with. Like Kira Kira and Esperanza Rising. And I think I was hoping this would be another of those. Especially since it was a Newbery Medal winner.
I'm not saying that this wasn't a good book. It was. I enjoyed it. I just didn't fall in love with it. And I must say, I have a feeling that I would have enjoyed this book much more when I was young. (Annie read it a couple years ago, and enjoyed it much more than I just did.)
Anyway, that's just my opinion, for what that's worth.

It will be interesting to see how Annie likes it when she is older compared to now...it seem slike I read that book at some point in my young life, but it obviously didn't make much of an impression b/c I don't remember it at all!

I know two people who have written to authors, and both got personal replies. A friend wrote to Ellis Peters, author of the Brother Cadfael series and ended up exchanging several letters before Ms. Peters (I think that was a pen name; can't recall the real one) died. My dad recently wrote the author of one of the current books on the science-religion divide and has since exchanged several e-mails with him. Both my friend and father wrote more than the normal "I like your book" letters and included specific comments about points made in the books. I'm betting that the authors really appreciate knowing that folks read their books deeply.
Re Island of the Blue Dolphins. This was the book that convinced my older son not to blanketly discard books with female lead characters.
I felt sort of silly playing along this week too, since my answers were basically the same as yours. No, no and then, uh, no! :)
I am behind on book reviews, good one you did. I like honest book reviews :) Mostly, I have been reading series books lately and I don't review them individually. I'm trying to catch up on some series. The OCD side of me does not like being so far behind on so many sets of series. Why I ever started new ones without finishing others I will never know. Ack!

You know, I read Island of Blue Dolphins and liked it but I was gonna say, I was young when I did read it! So it might appeal to younger people instead.
Of course I really don't remember anything about the story now!
