more books for the pile
It's a good thing I'm not one of those people who said they weren't going to get any new books this year until they'd worked through their TBR pile a bit...
And thank heavens for gift cards, Christmas money, and Paperback Swap! But now I'm done! Really! No more buying!

Oh good! You'll need something to carry those books in, and I just this afternoon packaged up two discharged bags that I did when I first started playing around with the process. I'll try to mail them tomorrow. I just knew you and Annie would have books that needed carrying. What timing!

Hugo Cabret is one that I really want to read soon. I've heard nothing but good things.

It is probably a good thing we live as far apart as we do...can you imagine what it would look like if we could merge our two piles?!?! I got 3 more books in the mail today (late Christmas gifts). Gotta love it! I guess the bright side is that I have plenty to read if I end up on bedrest. Or enough books to last me a lifetime considering my reading time is going to decrease dramatically in a few months!
Oooooh, I'm just going to start living vicariously through other people's book buying...but you do know that this is just pure torture for me right ;) Seriously...This reminds me of when I tried to quit smoking a couple of years back...isn't that sad??? I would LOVE to go out and buy a copy of The Good Faeries of New York right now :p

Hugo Cabret! Hooray! I hope you love it. I hope Annie loves it. I'm reading Preludes and Nocturnes right now. I am... underwhelmed. My husband says he usually recommends that people skip that and start with book 2, when the story really gets going. But I can't start with book 2 for the FIRST in a series challenge! So I am reading a couple pages a day and then setting it aside for something else. I should just plow through it.
I recommend the opposite, you cannot skip Preludes and Nocturnes. The beauty of Sandman is the story taken as a whole, and there are small things woven throughout the early stories that come into play at the end. Just don't stop there, keep reading. It is well worth it.

Oh, how I hope you DON'T get to read all those books on bedrest! As fun as that might sound to some people, we both know bedrest is NOT the vacation some imagine. Instead, I hope you're just stuck struggling to get in reading when you can during your busy days.
I have Hugo Cabret on my list of books for this year too. It looks fantastic...as does all the books you picked up!!

some really nice titles there! "i was a rat" seems very cool (after having read nymeth's review). and of course "preludes and nocturnes" is very good!
