*A few people wanted to hear what I thought of Sunshine. Well, I can tell you I really loved it! But I must add that I am the worst person to ask for an opinion about a movie. Why? Because I am so easily amused when it comes to movies. I'm not sure why this is so...I'm definitely pickier when it comes to books. Maybe because so much more of my time is invested in a book, as opposed to a movie. Anyway, unless a movie hopelessly bores me, is full of stereotypical immature-middle-school-boy type humor, is excessively gory, or the acting is horrendously atrocious, I'm generally o.k. with it. So, if you're fairly undiscerning like me, maybe my opinion will hold some weight. But if you'd like a real review, I suggest you read Carl's exceptionally well-thought-out, well-written review. It was there that I first heard of the movie, and have wanted to see it ever since.
*After reading The Goose Girl, I knew I had to get my hands on the sequels. But after reading Nymeth's review of Enna Burning yesterday, I knew I had to get my hands on them even sooner. And I did manage to pick up Enna Burning yesterday, though they didn't have River Secrets in stock.
*This recent compulsion to compartmentalize my blogging has led me to start another blog. This one is for our homeschool activities, so probably won't be terribly interesting to anyone but ourselves. :)
*That darn Becky! (Said with a smile on my face, of course.) She went and started another fun challenge, the Initials Reading Challenge. Do you think I could resist? Of course not!

I think I will have to put your homeschool blog on my Google Reader. Hannah began begging me to homeschool her starting next year, and I think the fact that she wasn't doing well in math and being bullied by a *friend* is what prompted the discussion. We were seriously considering it. But since Hannah has found out the girl won't be in her school next year, she wants to stay in public school. Longwinded way to say I think I could get some good ideas from your new blog for some summer activities. Hannah has a horrible teacher this year, and it has pretty much been a wasted year for her. I'll be doing A LOT of makeup teaching over the summer to get her on track for 4th grade.
My hubby is like you when it comes to movies and honestly ,I kind of wish I was like that! LOL We'll watch a movie together and afterwards he'll be all shocked when I pick it apart and analyze it and come to a final conclusion that means something other than "It was a good movie". I was a film major...I can't just watch a movie! :P
Well, the homeschool blog is interesting to ME! So there ;)
Just put a long comment on the homeschooling blog, so don't think I won't be going there to check up on my favorite cousin once removed (that would be Annie--you're still my cousin-in-law since I do like that term).
I toyed with separating out my thoughts into separate blogs but then I would have a ton... so I leave it as is & just figure people will skip over that which does not interest them. LOL!
Great list for the initials challenge! I'm sure I'll be thinking up my own in a few days :p i can't wait to see Sunshine! Very excited about it and glad you enjoyed it. I'm in the middle of two TV series on Netflix, so I'll get it as soon as I'm done those!
yay for Enna Burning! I can't wait to read your (and Annie's) thoughts on it!
You gave me lots of wonderful ideas for the Initials Challenge. I'm already compiling my list in my head, and that's a sure sign that I'll be unable to resist :P
If you have the time, my mom and I went to see Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day on Saturday, and we both loved it. It was just adorable! There are some risque scenes in the beginning (we see a naked guy, from the back of course, and there's a ton of sexual innuendo), so not really kid-friendly, but it's a really funny scene and after that it's kept to a minimum. My mom doesn't like sexually explicit movies, and she loved this one. :) I'm like you-I enjoy probably 90% of the movies I see!
And I think your homeschooling blog is interesting (though I'll probably just lurk there, since I have no parent-y advice to offer, lol)!
I am so glad you enjoyed Sunshine. I really, really enjoyed it. I bought it when it came out on DVD and have plans to watch it with my wife and some friends as soon as we can get some time together.
It is great that you and Annie are enjoying Shannon Hale's books so much. She is a wonderful writer and seems to be such a wonderful person.
I have to say you might be worse than I am about joining challenges!! I'm trying to stay away from them, but they just keep popping up!!
Oh man. The Outsiders?? Lordy, I loved that book when I was young!
You know, sometimes I just wish I wasn't so picky about movies. My friends (and husband) know me to be the one making cracks about movies ala Mystery Science Theatre 3000. It has to be pretty good to impress me, so I spend a lot of time being.. not impressed. but I do have Sunshine in my netflix queue, so hopefully I will like it!
Hmm, you really got me thinking. I wonder if I'm pickier about books or movies? I know that I'm extremely picking about TV shows, but that's probably because most of them are crap.
I'll probably read your homeschool blog, since I miss my own homeschooling days sometimes!
