why fight it?

It's a waste of time. Trying to fight my obsessiveness, that is. What am I talking about this time?

Well, first of all, there's the fact that I've started another blog. Come on now...how many blogs can one person possibly need, right?!! According to my warped brain, the answer is many. So I keep compartmentalizing more and more and more. This time around, we've got That's All She Made. Yep, my crafty/creative stuff blog.

And as if this isn't bad enough, I'm having trouble saying "no" to yet another challenge. Not Carl's Once Upon a Time II challenge...I never even dreamed of saying "no" to that one. The one that is currently tormenting me is Katrina's Spring Reading Thing.

I honestly believe I could say "no" to this one if it weren't for the fact that last year's Spring Reading Thing was the very first reading challenge I ever joined. And look what happened from there! So I feel kind of loyal, if you know what I mean. Besides, it would give me the chance to choose a couple of books I'm dying to read that I don't have on any other challenges. And darn it, that button is just too cute! Crap, will someone just smack me upside the head?!!

The Spring Reading Thing last year was my first challenge too! I can't believe it's already been a year. I'm going to participate again this year. But I'm probably going to have a smaller list than last year :)

You sound like me!! Like I don't have enough challenges going that I'll never finish!

The button really is too cute. That alone makes me want to join it. But I must be strong.

If it had been my first challenge, though, I'd probably cave too. Some traditions are worth keeping :P My first was Once Upon a Time and I am of course not even considering resisting the second :P

You always make me laugh with your reading posts for some reason. I still just shake my head in amazement!
Going to check out your NEW blog! Guess I need to add it to my bloglines so I don't miss anything!

I love the button! Maybe I'll tell myself to join this...just this one?? Hmm... LOL.

Have to check out your new blog!

Don't even try to resist. Its not worth the effort, and life's obviously enjoyable when you have lots of nice reading to do, right?

I love your new blog! That post is so sweet. You really need to do like me Debi and just move to Wordpress. Then you can just have 1 main blog with tabs and have everything on one blog. I used to have a blog for challenges, one for books read, my main blog...but now it's all on one page!

I know how hard it is to pass up these challenges. I haven't signed up for any in awhile and I'm not going to until OUaT in a couple of days!!! Yay! But every time I see another one start, I get a little more depressed that I'm not a part of it :( But I just can't and I've been good! My first challenge was the Banned Books Challenge last year and I even watched that one come and go (well it's still going, but I didn't sign up). So I'm trying to be good! But I was really tempted by the Spring Reading Thing too :p

I think I'm gonna have to do Katrina's spring one too! Which means I'll have to think about what I'm going to read instead of just randomly deciding at the last minute!

Chris,
You're probably right, I should switch to wordpress. But frankly, I'm intimidated by the whole idea. I'm so totally computer illiterate.

Gail,
You know it was from you that I first heard of last year's Spring Reading Thing...and ever since I've blamed you for my little "addiction" :)

Your new blog is the 100th that I'll add to my Google Reader, just so I can have an even number and stick to reading 25 a day!

I am close to finishing The Subtle Knife. That makes 2 books in 2 weeks. Woo hoo!

i think compartmentalising your blogging is nice. it can be good for the reader and for the blogger.

for the blogger it gives each one a focus and identity. and for the reader, that identity lets the reader know what to expect.

this is something i learned from carl's website and have been thinking of doing myself for some time.

carl's blog is so focused and stream-lined it is. it makes it such a good website that way and the reader who looks that sort of stuff immediately knows what he's going to get and gets hooked in. which is the opposite with my blog, for instance, where its a hotch-potch of things, and i think it can be harder for readers (especially the casual reader) to get into it.

That button is pretty...

Actually, I'm thinking about joining the Spring Reading Thing myself...it's nice because it's got so few constraints and I kind of want to use it as motivation to get some of the ginormous stack on my night stand read.

When I started blogging, I thought, hey, the challenges look nice but they're not for me. I don't like to plan...I like to embrace randomness and my mood. Three joined challenges and a long-term project later I say...my, isn't this challenge thing a slippery slope? ;-)
