hmmm...

"I often dream of traveling the world on my own."

These are the exact words spoken to me by Gray last night. On the surface, nothing particularly unusual, I suppose. But these words were uttered from a mattress on the floor of my bedroom as I sat there reading. From a mattress on the floor of my bedroom, because that is where he's slept for the past many months. I guess traveling the world on his own is no big deal...as long as he doesn't have to venture into his own bedroom solo. :)

******

I'm sure it's simply shocking news to hear, but I signed up for the Novella Challenge.

This is a fabulous quote!!! now to write a book about all the ventures and adventures that were had from the mattress on the bedroom floor!!...

Cute! But when he gets older, he just might do that and go further away than you want....I speak from experience!

Too, too funny! Sadly, he will venture out eventually though, huh? I suppose he will have to conquer the bedroom first though!

Awww-at least your heart's safe for a few more years. I flew to St. Petersburg all by myself, and I had to find my study abroad group. Later, my mom admitted that it almost killed her; when I was applying for the Peace Corps and chose to get nominated for francophone Africa, I promised her I wouldn't go unless she was comfortable. I didn't get a medical clearance, so it all ended up being moot, but I could tell she was trying to put on a brave face.

Cute--and profound--as the comment was, I think I might have followed it up be asking about traveling the dreamworld on his own, from his own bed. Do you think he might have been trying to tell you that he thinks about being more independent but isn't sure how to do it? It seems more a dream than something he feels he can do right now? I know! I know! Written like a psychologist! But then, I am at least according to the diploma out in the garage. But I also know from my own wonderfully strange kids that sometimes they say something to me hoping for a certain response. Just my .02 worth, and now I'll retreat to the kitchen to make dinner. Meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, and steamed broccoli here tonight, with brownies for dessert.

Very cute :) Tell him just to wait a few more years before he decides to hop on that plane!

That is so sweet!! Ana just turned 6 today. She still sneaks into my room on a lot of nights!

She is definitely the baby!

Awwww, what a sweet little guy. Someday he'll pluck up his courage enough to do it. For now, he can live vicariously in books, right?

Ha ha! Adventurous in spirit if not in practice. But don't worry; he'll grow out of this stage. They all do.

I like Jean's advice. She must be a wonderful mom, just like you!

That's too funny. On nights that aren't school nights, Timmy sleeps on a little fold out chair/bed in our room. Hmmm, must be a boy thing.

take care,
Dawn
