hello summer

This time of year rivals even Christmas and Halloween for our little Maxidoodle! Why? Well, it's cherry-picking season!

Seriously, he is so cute...as soon as the blossoms scatter across the yard, he starts watching the fruit develop. He asks, what seems like thousands of times but is probably only hundreds, when the cherries will be ready for eating. And as soon as they are ready, he performs death-defying feats to reach the out-of-reach little nuggets of red, sweet, juicy goodness. Never mind that there are plenty in easy reach...I mean, where's the challenge in that, right?

Suppose I'd better go pick me a bowlful for a cherry cobbler before he eats them all, huh?

Such lovely pictures! Cherries are so yummy. I can definitely understand Max's impatience :P

We don't have many cherry trees here, so I've never picked them myself, but I do have wonderful childhood memories of eating plums right off the tree :)

WOW! Those look awesome! It's been (gulp) about 26 years since I've had a cherry directly from the tree. Hmm . . . perhaps that would be a good addition to the garden!

I envy the fact that you picked yours in your backyard and I paid for mine at the grocery store, but I love cherries!

OH.MY.GOSH! Do you have cherries in your yard?!! I'm seriously SOOO jealous, I love cherries! He's adorable too by the way. If you weren't so dang far away I'd be stealing them from you. I almost never get fresh ones because they are stinking expensive in the store here...I might have to splurge now that I've seen these and practically drooled all over my computer.

My grandparents had a cherry tree but they were very tart "cooking cherries" -- as my Gram called them. She would make lots of cherry jams & jellies but they were not great for picking off the tree to eat. They would go cherry-picking somewhere in New York though & come back with baskets & baskets of dark red cherries. Yum!
