whew

Finally, the end of July has arrived! Not that I want to be wishing summer away or anything, but July is always filled with so many extracurriculars that it seems there's little time for sitting back and relaxing. There were soccer games two nights a week, and a week of writing class, and two Saturdays of nature photography class, and a day-long babysitter training class, and Tuesday mornings gymnastics class...

Oh, and a couple days ago, we had this:

The library had a program where the kids could come in and read to service dogs. Oh my goodness, was this a hit with the boys! At first Max was a little reluctant to read, because he's simply not very good at it yet. But once he got started, he did great and read Jenny the whole book. Gray read books to three different dogs. It really was a fun time...and all the doggies were just as sweet as could be!

Anyway, I think (aside from the boys' gymnastic classes which run through the end of August) we're past all that stuff now. So may the relaxing now commence!

(Shhh...I'm ignoring the fact that Annie's schooling year-round.)

Well you certainly sound busy! I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer at an easier pace.

I am really taken by the idea of reading to service dogs. That is the sweetest thing I have heard of. Wouldn't that be a great thing to do in a school!

take care,
Dawn

This is possibly one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. Love it. Great way to get kids interacting with dogs *and* having fun reading.

I love the dog in the second pic!

OMG! The reading to service dogs is priceless, as are your photos. Are the boys now reading to Baker at home? It would only be fair.

That's a pretty good idea I bet, getting them to read to the dogs! Cute pictures.
I sometimes felt like I was through with enough things to finally have summer and vacation by August! The problem with that was, then school was starting back!

OH MY GOSH! That is soooo precious!

I do know what you mean about summer. We have so many library activities that I feel like we live there June and July. I can kick back for August!

Reading and dogs? Could there be a better combination? What a splendid idea. I can see why it was such a big hit with the kids. And those two dogs look so cute!

I hope you get to relax for the rest of the summer, Debi...you more than deserve it.

LOL! I would never have thought to read a book to a dog. Too cute!

We've been busy here, too. I'm trying to keep the learning going as much as possible. The kids are surprisingly willing, but it requires a lot of energy when I am SO tired. I'd rather just kick back with a beer (when my husband gets home, of course!).

How fun! I've never heard of such a thing but those little dogs sure look like they're enjoying the time. Have fun with the relaxing (while it lasts). :)

I never heard of this type of event until last year. The one I attended turned out to be such a success, especially with the reluctant readers. So glad you had a good time. :)
