tell me what to read

I do realize I just published my last post, saying that I would shut up for now. I didn't mean to lie. Honest. I didn't. But I'm looking for a little help here. I can't decide what book to read next. I'm almost done with my current read, and just can't decide what to start next. I've narrowed it down to four choices:

*Dracula by Bram Stoker

*The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

*The Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason

*Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge

I've decided I'm just going to read the one that gets the most votes. How's that for lazy?!!

Hmmm...I would suggest going for the shortest of the lot. Not sure why that is even a valid suggestion but that is what I am sticking to. Dracula is of course my favorite and I am dying to see you get to and through one of Colleen's books but if, say, Hill House is shorter I think you can't go wrong there!

Eeeks! I haven't read any of those!! I've heard Dracula is fantastic and I do like Shirley Jackson's short stories. Look forward to seeing what you pick!

I vote for Dracula. I was completely surprised at how much I enjoyed it (once I got into the story) considering that I'm not a fan of vampires or creepy books in general. If you want more reasons to read it, come on over and check out my review. :)

I vote for The Haunting of Hill House! Just yesterday I finished Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle and it's just brilliant. I really want to get my hands on her other books! So you should read that one and then tell me all about it :P

I recommend Dark Harvest. I want to know about October Boy.

Either Dracula of The Rest Falls Away I think.

The title that struck me was the Haunting of Hill House. I remember reading some of Shirley Jackson's work about a million years ago and liking it!

take care,
Dawn

I'm going with the Rest Falls Away....because it's a quick read. THEN you can read Dracula!

Ok I haven't read any of these, but I like the sound of The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

I think I might have to look that one up myself :)

Dracula is one of my favorite books. It was such a surprise when I read it, not at all what I was expecting. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Hill House. Because I just read it and I want to talk about it with you. :p And it's short!

P.S.: so jealous of Rich's trip!!! You should find yourself a nice, full room service B&B for the read-a-thon in order to begin balancing the karma out. ;)

I think you ought to read THE REST FALLS AWAY. ;-)

I agree with Stephanie, The Rest Falls Away is a really quick, fun read. Then you can read Dracula. :)

Since I keep hearing so many good things about this author, I'd go with The Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason.

I vote for Dracula :)

For sure Dracula. Unless you want to add "Something Wicked This Way Comes" from Ray Bradbury to your list.

I picked up "Interview Wtih A Vampire" last night, which I've never read although it was published in 1976. I'm adding it to my list for RIP III.

Thanks everyone for taking that decision out of my hands! Think I might have to do this more often. Of course, since you all now have me reading the longest of those books, Dracula, it will probably be awhile before I'm ready to start a new one. :)

Carl,
"Not sure why that is even a valid suggestion but that is what I am sticking to."...Well, valid or not, I really liked the suggestion. Somehow, few else agreed though.

Eva,
"P.S.: so jealous of Rich's trip!!! You should find yourself a nice, full room service B&B for the read-a-thon in order to begin balancing the karma out. ;)"...You don't mind if I share this comment with Rich, do you?

Bellezza,
"Unless you want to add "Something Wicked This Way Comes" from Ray Bradbury to your list."...I read that for RIP last year, and it now ranks among my all-time favorite books! Perhaps a reread is in order. :)
