that damn six random things meme

Oh okay, I shouldn't be so negative here. I actually love that meme...when anyone else does it, that is! I really do think it's so fun to read these bits and pieces about everyone. As for me, well, I've been tagged to do it before...and conveniently "forgot" to do it. Honestly, it's just that I am so truly boring that I can't think of anything to say. And please, please, please, don't tell me I'm not boring...I'm really not looking for that. Believe me, I'm living it...I know I'm boring! Anyway, this time it was Annie that tagged me...and she won't let me conveniently forget.

I thought maybe I would try to spice it up by using pictures, each of which was taken in my bedroom today. And you can tell me what you think any or all of them say about me. At the bottom, I'll tell you what they're really about. (Yeah, I know, this was absolutely a pathetic attempt at "spicing up," wasn't it?)

*********

So, what do I think they say about me?

1. Picture of my favorite pair of shoes. First, it shows that I have really big feet! They didn't use to be quite so large, but grew a half a size with each kiddo. I hear that's not uncommon. Secondly, they say that I totally dress for comfort. I am definitely not much for fashion. Hmmm...so why do I love Project Runway so much?

2. Picture of about half of my current TBR pile. Well, it definitely says that I need to learn a little self-discipline when it comes to buying books!

3. Picture of a totally goofy little plastic jack-a-lope. Evidence that I'm totally sentimental. I know it's tacky plastic figurine. But I absolutely love it! It sat in my grandparents' basement for as long as I can remember. They loved traveling in their camper, and this was a silly souvenir from one of their trips. I miss them soooo much.

4. Picture of a really old ladder that hangs on our wall as shelves. The fact that I love it points to the fact that I would fail horribly if I ever decided to enter the interior design field. Also shows how much I love handmade things, like the little scoop that Rich made for me the first Christmas we were married.

I really understand the jack-a-lope. I have a couple of items like that. It brings back such nice feelings, ya know?

I love that you did that with pictures. That was great.

Yup, my feet grew too! I think more wide than anything else LOL!~

I am a big sentimental fool. I can understand how the jack-a-lope is something that you treasure.

Great job.

take care,
Dawn

I love someone who's tbr pile is as bad or worse than mine! There's something to be said about choice when you go to pick your "next read" *grin*

(cute jackolope!)

Hee! I love your list! Your TBR pile of books gave me quite a chuckle. ;-)

Okay, I liked you before, but now I adore you because:

a.) I buy shoes like that (and I'm pretty sure I can say where you got 'em). Yes, my feet have grown. They shrank when I lost 40 pounds, but they're back.

b.) I can't decorate. I just suck at it.

c.) You have more books near your bed than I do.

d.) I'm a hopeless sentimental fool. And, it's fine if what I remember fondly is the tackiest thing you've ever seen. I'll still put it on display in a prominent place. You can do that in your own house. I love that.

You are most definitely NOT boring!!! And anyone who will hang a ladder sideways on the wall definitely has a flair for decorating. At least more of a flair than I do. As for the jack-a-lope and family sentimentality, I understand totally. Tell Rich that if he ever wants our grandmother's upright piano, it's in my living room. On the more like a jack-a-lope front, I also have a porcelain bedpan that Granny and Grandpa picked up somewhere.

Thank you for the awesome bookporn :D Seriously, I just love your tbr pile. Yes it's big and messy and scary, but that's part of what's so great about it. And looking at all those books just makes me happy.

I'm sentimental too...I keep all sorts of useless things that I know I should just get rid of. But I never do.

You're not boring, Debi!!! ;)
I love your idea of posting the pics and then the explanations. And I know what you mean about the never-ending TBR pile, hehe.

Hope you had a great weekend!

I'm having a hard time understanding this crazy slang phrase "self-discipline when it comes to buying books." That must mean "getting another bookcase." It's the only thing that makes sense in that context.

I love that you included pictures!! I am totally sentimental as well and I hate to part with anything. My mom keeps nagging me (sorry mom!) to come get my stuff from her house--all the nicknacks and dolls and such and I don't want to because I don't really want it but I can't bear to part with it either. I just want to perserve my room exactly how it is with all the "crap" that it contains now. :) Packrat to the max!!
