out of my comfort zone

Please feel free to make fun of me. But tonight was the first time in almost 17 years that I've been to the theater to watch a movie. It wasn't exactly easy to drag myself in there, but I'm glad I did it. It's not that I was afraid of the whole theater experience or anything; it's just that it drove me bonkers because I couldn't stand to sit still and do "nothing" for that long of a period of time.

Yep, tonight was a real breakthrough. I came, I saw, and I actually enjoyed! I didn't get the slightest bit antsy. I just sat and relaxed...what a concept!

Anyway, I won't review the movie, because frankly, I wouldn't have a clue how. I'm not particularly critical of movies. As long as a movie isn't overwhelmingly boring, I generally enjoy it. But I can say that Inkheart the movie was quite different in many ways from Inkheart the book. But even so, I really did like it quite a lot.

Well, it hasn't been that long for me, but I have to REALLY want to see a movie to go to the theatre. I might go once or twice a year. I hate the sitting there doing nothing thing too. When I watch a movie at home, I hardly watch it from beginning to end... I get up and do things or I do something while I am watching the movie or something along those lines. I am supposed to go see this movie on Monday, but it wouldn't surprise me if I don't and end up renting it instead. That's normally what ends up happening!

I have that problem, too. Brendan Fraser is usually worth the effort.

I read some reviews this morning that suggest Inkheart is really good. Unfortunately, I have never warmed up to Brendan Fraser, which means I may just wait to Netflix this one.

Hey, good for you! I'm glad you went and had a good time, that's what going to the movies is all about to me. Just to escape and enjoy :) Hope you had some buttery, greasy popcorn while you were there too, LOL!

I really want to see this one, but my husband isn't too interested. :-(

My husband and I go to the movie frequently, although less than when we did when we were younger.

My dad refused to set foot in a theater for over twenty years, always saying that it was because they didn't make popcorn butter the way they used to. LOL About five years ago, my brother and I got him and my mom to go see a movie and now they go just about twice a month. He has no complaints about the popcorn butter. :-)

So glad to hear you enjoyed Inkheart!! It's not getting good reviews, but I know I will like it too. I do like Brendon and I adore Andy Serkis, even if he is the villian of the movie! I hope to see it this weekend sometime .

I really want to go see this one, since I wasn't super-attached to the book! My problem with seeing movies in theaters is that I end up eating so much popcorn I make myself sick, lol. I love going anyway though!

I often feel like that not only about going to the movies, but also about watching DVDs at home. I find it hard not to start thinking about the hundreds of things I "should" be doing. Funnily enough it never happens when I'm reading. And what's even more bizarre is that I'm actually a lot more critical of movies than I am of books. It takes much longer to read a book than to watch a movie, but I'm much more easily frustrated by a mediocre movie that made me waste 2 hours than by a so-so book I spent like 6 hours reading. Go figure :P

Glad you enjoyed the movie and the experience. Are Rich and the kids big movie lovers?

Wow, 17 years! Congrats on the breakthrough. If it wasn't for financial considerations I would go to the theater several times a week. I love the experience. I love the smell of popcorn, the big screen, the surround sound. Going to movies has been such a part of my life since my childhood. I hope you find yourself visiting more often. And I'm glad that you enjoyed Inkheart. I am curious how those who enjoyed the books will feel about the film.

I'm glad that ended up being a good experience for you. Movie tickets are so expensive these days! It is unbelievable. I don't blame you for staying away.

Wow. We go see movies all the time. I L-O-V-E the experience of sitting in a theater and watching movies. Most of the time, we go see kid movies, but we always hit the "biggies": The Dark Knight, Transformers, Iron Man....

Last week, we even saw My Bloody Valentine in 3-D. Cheesey slasher flick, but the 3-D was way cool!!

What I miss most about going to the movies is....

DOUBLE FEATURES!

yep.. two movies for the price of one!! I can tell you the last time I saw a double feature.. i lived in florida so my kids were "pre-teens" (they are 41 and 43 now) so I know many of you never had the privledge of seeing 2 movies for the price of one..

My then-boyfriend (now the hubs) and I used to watch movies quite frequently during our dating times... it was always great discussing about them but nowadays, children and life keep us all very busy but we do try to make it to the cinemas once in a while only when there's a movie we wanted to watch or a blockbuster that has caught our attention.

I haven't read the book or watch this movie yet, but I thought it sounds very interesting to me!
