what is my problem?!!

Okay, so our library sale started Friday. We were there as the doors opened. Of course. So I'm walking around, scouring all the tables, and all the boxes under the tables, and all I could think was that this year's sale was a big disappointment. And this is where the "problem" comes in. See, I came away with 10 books! And I'm thinking this is a disappointment?!! I fear I may not have been happy unless I needed a U-Haul to carry my purchases away. I'm out of control. It's quite sad. I need help.

So anyway, here's what I got:

And yes, there is some blame to be apportioned:

*Sowing the Dragon's Teeth: Land Mines and the Global Legacy of War by Philip C. Winslow
*Troll Bridge: A Rock 'N' Roll Fairy Tale by Jane Yolen and Adam Stemple (Point for Nymeth. Okay, so she didn't actually review this particular book, but it is nonetheless her fault entirely. Because of this review for Pay the Piper, which I already acquired but haven't yet read.)
*Jerk, California by Jonathan Friesen (Point for Becky, because of this review.)
*History of the Present: Essays, Sketches, and Dispatches from Europe in the 1990s by Timothy Garton Ash
*Lizard by Banana Yoshimoto
*Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss (Point for Alison. I was intrigued by this book the moment I first heard of it, but it was this review that assured that it would eventually make its way onto my TBR pile.)
*A Pocketful of Poems: Vintage Verse selected by David Madden
*Second Nature by Alice Hoffman
*The Magic Circle by Donna Jo Napoli
*On Beauty by Zadie Smith (Point for Nymeth. Yep, this review.)

*****

And, for no reason other than I'm trying to put off making a science test, I thought I'd share some proof that spring is truly here in our neck of the woods:

You like books. A lot. That's the full extent of your problem :P

And that's a very nice loot! Thanks for reminding me to get myself Troll Bridge. And The Magic Circle is one I've had my eye on as well.

I love those flowers :)

LOL I do the same thing, coming home from book sales or thrift stores with my arms laden down with books, thinking they had hardly anything! :D

You obviously wanted another ten books then! You are not on your own. We are all obsessed. I can't wait to hear what you think of the Alice Hoffman one. The Magic Circle sounds good too.

Ha! I can totally relate. If I leave a book sale with less than, say, 20 books, I'm all like "Oh, that was pretty lame" despite the fact the most books I can usually manage to read in a good year is around 50, so um, 20 is a lot of books. Too many in fact. But any less than that is oddly disappointing even if I have no hope of every having the time to actually *read* them....

Well, looks like you're not the only one with a problem. ;-P

We have our book sale coming up! Last year I got there late and came away with a box full for $3. I'm not sure what I'm going to go this year, wait til 1/2 before closing or go early and get the good stuff!! It's a main fundraiser for our school, so maybe I'll do both! LOL you can never have too many books, Debi. Though, 10 books does seem rather small when all those books are there- but if they'd been picked over, it might have been all books you already had or 10 million copies of 1980's and 1970's books that no one wants to read now! That's happened to me at a few sales too. Hey, you got a Napoli book! there is no such thing as a bad book sale when you can snag any of her books!! :-P

I was smiling away when reading your post, Debi... we just couldn't stop adding and buying books, eh?! ;P This habit will stay with us for a very long, long time!

I love the pics! Those flowers are beautiful!

LOL...I know exactly how you feel! At my last library sale I think I only got 6 books and I was thoroughly upset!! LOL..we're not happy unless we need a donkey to drag them through the door :p

I love those flower pics Debi!!! Beautiful...I need to learn how to take good flower pictures. I just got a new camera and I want to figure out how you all take gorgeous really close-ups of plants. I can't seem to get it right :/

I agree with Nymeth. Besides, I think we ALL have the same problem. It's an addition. Embrace it!!

The pictures are lovely!

Looks like you got some really good books! I want Troll Bridge, Jerk, California and Lizard!!

yup.. out of control... we all suffer from it.. pretty pathetic when you think of it lol.. I don't know how it happened to me either!!

I want to read Troll Bridge! The library had the first book, but they don't have that one. Drives me crazy, it really does! I have a hard enough time finishing series. The library not having complete sets is not making things any better!

Oh noes... more books!! Yeah, whatever, admitting your problem is the first step to fixing it, right?

Boooooks... Ten books is perfectly respectable and understandable! Looks like a nice loot, Debi! (And do read Pay the Piper sometime! It's a lot of fun.)

I want your spring! (I know, I know. I have my own. But I'm greedy! ^-~) Those are some gorgeous pictures, Debi. ^-^

Did you take those pictures? They are gorgeous!! Very bright and springy.

LOL--I walked away with a papersack full of books from our last library sale and was a little disappointed also (my family just shook their heads). Must have been about 30 books. Sheesh. Actually, Second Nature was one of them. I'll be interested in hearing what you think.
