Just wasting time...

Time that I really don't have to waste. You know how you can become simply paralyzed when you just have too many things to get accomplished? That's where I seem to be this morning. Our big vacation is fast approaching...and I am nearing panic. O.K., that's not really true. I'm not actually in "panic-mode" yet. But I should be. There is so much to get ready. We'll be gone for about 2 1/2 weeks. Packing the kids' clothes alone shall be a nightmare. Heck, we even need to hit the thrift store this week to try to find Gray a couple pair of shorts, since I won't be able to do laundry on a daily basis as I do here at home. We're trying to keep costs down as much as possible...which of course means trying to eat out as little as possible. So I have to try to remember to bring such things as a can opener and a knife and salt and pepper and paper plates and dish soap and... It's all those things after the "and..." that worry me, that is, all the things I'm bound not to think of.
Anyway, if the vacation was all I had to worry about I'd be okay. But, of course, it's not. There's our big homeschool adventure looming on the horizon. By the time we get home from vacation, it will be nearly time to start school. I had soooooo hoped to have everything ready before we left on vacation. But that just isn't going to happen. It's extremely unlikely, o.k.--I admit it--it's utterly inconceivable, that I will even have everything for the first quarter ready. That has me major league stressed out! So what do I do? Keep plugging away at every opportunity? No, I sit down here and babble away. I'm telling myself that by taking a few minutes to de-stress, I will end up more productive with my day in the long run. Yeah, I know...probably a load of crap.

So, on today's agenda (after wasting time) is...
1. normal daily grind that I haven't yet done (beds, laundry, etc.)
2. grocery list/shopping
3. make all the lists I can think of for things that need to be done for the trip (food to buy, other stuff to buy, things to remember to do around the house before we go like taking out the air conditioners and changing all the pets' litters and stopping the mail, toiletries and medicines to pack, things we'll need for eating meals at rest stops or in hotel rooms, snacks for in the car, etc., etc., etc....)
4. finish up plans for Native American unit
5. get as much done on The Scientific Process unit as possible
6. tape "The Revolution"--DO NOT FORGET THIS ONE!

Well, I'm afraid I've run out of things to blather on about, so I guess it's time that I jump back into the chaos.

I have been doing so much of nothing lately! But, I don't have the agenda that you do. I love making lists! There used to be a time I could do this in my head LOL!

I hope you have a wonderful vacation. I can't wait to hear about it when you get back :)

take care,
Dawn
