Just stumbled over a new little meme. I'm a day late, but what the heck.
Yesterday's Foodie Friday...
*What are your favorite comfort foods when you are sick?
---When I got sick as a kid, my mom always made me buttered toast with hot chocolate to dip it in. Toast and cocoa, we called it. Still the first thing I think of when I get a cold. Those childhood comforts can really stick with you, can't they?

I don't remember much food. I guess the ginger ale and saltines I fall back on must have helped some.
What I do remember is the new box of crayons I got with and Adam Ant (the cartoon for those too young to remember) coloring book. Just the smell of new crayons reminds me of that.
take care,
Dawn
Ooh, I have lots of memories of comfort foods. Some my grandmom would fix for me (something she called milk toast and then she would always fix me chicken rice for regular meals, which I loved). My mom was the quintessential mom when I was sick - I got chicken noodle soup, saltines, Sprite or 7UP, then if I was good, I'd get "rewarded" with jello or popsicles. I still love all those foods and still want them when I feel bad. I have a new one, since I've been married, that my husband fixes for me. It's a really beefed up chicken noodle thing, using ramen noodles, rice, chicken flavors and egg. :) He calls it rumien and it's my favorite comfort food on the planet.
Great post, I need to remember to look for this meme next week!
you are so right! to this day, jello & canned pears & room-temp, slightly "de-fizzed" ginger ale are the only things i want when i am sick.
