Just Curious...

Our kids still have 4 weeks left of school at this point. So while the weather is finally cooperating, it still just doesn't seem like "summer" yet. For me, summer just doesn't begin until the school doors are closed.

Just curious...
How about you? When does summer "start" for you? Is the weather? Is it Memorial Day weekend? What signals the beginning for you?

I have to say that I am sooooo anxious for school to be over! I need a break!!! Of course, I'll have to start preparing for next year, but it won't be the same kind of pressure. I've got so much to get finished up in the next couple weeks. Hmmm...and yet here I sit blogging instead.

We school year-round do we don't have an official summer break. With Sadie's illness, if we don't school year-round, we would never be able to complete the year. We school about 4 days a week and break when we want here and there.

As for summer, for me, it's all a weather thing. Once it gets hot enough to play in the sprinkler ... summer's here, LOL.

When my kids were little I used to think summer started when school was over like you said. Sometimes it still feels that way to me now.....sometimes it's more the weather! It's been pretty hot & dry here so it feels summery. Don asked me last night though when summer started! Guess I need to check the calendar....

I have to agree that summer starts when school is over - that and when the ice cream truck starts making a daily appearance (which interestingly enough seems to coincide with school being out!).

Well, school is out here, so it does officially feel like summer. I don't have a problem of when summer starts, but when it ends! School used to start back afer labor day, but now we start back the beginning of August, and summer just doesn't feel over to me at that point!

LOL! Like I said in one of my previous posts, summer for me begins after the season finalies of all my favorite shows. Really, I think school letting out is what begins it for me. It's one big sigh of relief that we made it through!

FOUR WEEKS!! Good lord...I wish MINE still had 4 weeks. My kids got out on the 24th. Man. I'm jealous. Then again, I'll be laughing at you come August! Oh wait...you homeschool...I guess you don't feel sorry for me....

I used to teach, so summer was aways when school ended. Now that I'm at home all the time, it all kinda creeps up on me! All I know is that when summer comes, my kids think that I have become their entertainment director. "I'm BORED!!" I've never known kids who have so MUCH, but are always bored.
