Gray, our incredibly sensitive, compassionate, creative little soul. It's hard for most people to really get to know this sweet kiddo because he is so painfully shy. He gets along very well with other kids, but is generally very reluctant to join in without a specific invitation. And of course, on the playground, that's just not how kids work. You just go play. But Gray has apparently been spending his recesses just wandering around by his lonesome. So our poor little fellow has been feeling mighty blue about school lately. Breaks my heart into a million pieces! I talked to his teacher and she's now trying to make sure he joins in the fun.
Anyway, last week, this cute little kiddo told us he wanted his hair cut in the this very particular way...spiky. I told him that I didn't think I could do it, so he would have to go to a "professional" for this one. Something he's been very reluctant to do in the past. He was so excited about this haircut that he didn't hesitate for a moment. So Monday evening we headed off to the hair salon.
The result: One very happy little boy.
And now each morning includes a new routine...styling with hair gel. Hmmm...now if I could only get Annie to just brush her hair without a plethora of whining.
Anyway, it was a very small price to pay to help one extremely special little boy with his self-confidence.
**Sorry, it took me so long to post this picture, Mom! But doesn't he look happy?

Oh Debi! He has got to be one of the most adorable lil' boys out there! I just *love* his hair!! It's perfect with his cute grin! I'm *so* glad this made him so happy and that he was willing to go get it done. :o)
Oh my gosh, how adorable! I love his haircut and he does look incredibly happy in that picture :) So glad he is coming out of his shell a bit. I was (and am) painfully shy in a lot of ways, just give him time :)
He's adorable, Debi, and the new "do" does suit him. I know that my own boys always found their friends (and still do) through shared interests--chess, Magic (the card game), Ultimate frisbee, certain types of books--rather than the run around on the playground or just be in the same grade at school thing. You might ask Gray's teacher before school lets out if there are kids in his class with whom he shares a special interest. Or see about getting him into some enrichment classes (art?) where he might meet other kids interested in the same sorts of things he is. And hey, if you've already tried all that, it's just my .02 worth, having been through much the same thing here.
What a cutie pie, and he really does look happy! I have to beg CJ to fix his hair instead of just throwing on a hat! I miss the days of his cute spikey hair!
What a cutie! I love his new 'do!
It's amazing what a good haircut can do for our self-esteem, no matter what our age!
I know things will get better for Gray. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right circle of friends - has it been better since the teacher was made aware of the situation? Keep me updated - I hate to think of little Gray at recess by himself - it breaks my heart!
You know, you may be right about those voices! I am really hoping to make it out to you r neck of the woods before too long!
Oh Debi, he looks very happy! And he's just TOO cute for words! I love that grin on his face and I know you could just squeeze him to death. So glad he got it done, a good haircut is the best feeling sometimes.
It's so funny that boys are using hair stuff younger than girls. One of my boys loves mousse. It drives me crazy, he's 8!
Anyway, Gray's hair looks great, very handsome.
FANTASTIC!!
What a cutie, by the way ;-)
Hey Debi! He looks so adorable! Just look at him on the pic, so happy...! I'm sure he loves his haircut. Have a great day/evening. :D
