paper and books

It's been a long time since I've gotten any scrapbooking done. And it will probably be a while longer yet. I can't believe we've nearly hit the end of September already. Which means my papercrafting time (yeah, what time?!!) needs to be spent getting all those Christmas cards made. O.K., O.K., I've been telling myself that for the past 6 weeks, but have yet to do anything about it. I did, however, manage to make a couple of Halloween cards spending 2 minutes here and 5 minutes there.

Might try to make a few more this week...but then I must put everything else away and drag out "Christmas" supplies. Maybe if the stuff is sitting out on my table, I'll actually manage to get around to it. Maybe.

As far as my other mode of relaxation, reading, I'm not doing much better. My biggest problem is that there just isn't enough hours in the day. But I think I may also be my own worst enemy. It used to be that I could only read one book at a time. Or so I believed, anyway. But several months back, I discovered that I really could focus on more than one at a time. And this was great...but I think I've taken it way too far! I'm now reading so many at one time that I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. I'm still trying to finish up A Time to Kill from the Southern Reading Challenge (which of course is long over). I'm reading The Trials of Life for the Non-Fiction Five (which ends Sunday, so I'd better get moving!). I'm reading Frankenstein for the R.I.P. II Challenge. I'm reading Charlotte's Web to the boys (and for the Four-Legged Friends Challenge). And then just to make things even more chaotic, last night Rich, Annie, and I started reading MacBeth aloud together (another for the R.I.P. II Challenge).

Yes, it would be fair to say that I'm in over my head. And yet, what did I do this morning? Signed up for two more challenges! I'm a sick woman, I tell you. Sick. Seems as if I thrive on failure, doesn't it? Anyway, Becky is hosting these two new challenges. Actually, she calls them mini-challenges. And for many readers out there that "mini" title would apply...but for me they are definitely full-blown challenges. They do sound quite fun though...one is a Jane Austen/Masterpiece Theater challenge and one is a C.S. Lewis/J.R.R. Tolkien challenge. Pop over to Becky's if you're interested. I posted my lists over at my "damn...how am I ever going to read all these?!!" blog.

Haha!! Love the title of the challenge blog :D

I think I'm a little crazy too, Debi, so we can just lose it together with all these challenges, lol!

Your card is great! I don't have an ounce of artistic talent in my body. Megan does all of the artistic stuff.

You're so funny, love the new title of the reading challenge blog!

Those cards are cute, and I can't wait to see what kind of ones you do for Christmas. My favorite time of year. Like you, I can hardly believe we're almost at the end of September. Whoosh, there goes most of the year :)

Happy Reading and Happy Scrapbooking!

Debi, you are one sick, sick woman, but then that's probably why I think we'd be great friends if we lived in the same city or even state. As for Christmas cards, I was thinking just the other day that I should make sure I bought enough at the post-holiday sales last year and perhaps start addressing them. There was a time in my life when I thought of making them but quickly discarded the idea. I'm a fiber geek, not a paper one, and prefer to create larger things than cards. Speaking of which, the wedding present quilt is calling. Yes, "Tigger Dancing in the Yard," I hear you and am coming....

Oh dear. (shaking my head)

Someone schedule an intervention for this poor lady!!

Debi-

I am seriously looking for a cheap plane ticket - someone has got to do an intervention soon or I'm afraid your family will find you rocking back and forth in a corner clutching books and mumbling incoherently! Actually, I think it's great...more power to you!

I STILL haven't sent Max's gift although it is now boxed and addressed. Nothing like adding a week+ to the birthday - sorry!

I would love to go through pregnancy without worrying and thinking about a NICU baby, but I am much too aware of the reality of the situation. It doesn't mean I'm not holding on to some hope, though - I sure would love a big, fat full-termer and am going to do all I can to get one (including already going on a diabetic diet since I was borderline last time - I'm hoping the test comes out O.K. this time).

Cute cards Debi! I don't know how you do it, I never have time to read. Of course, I probably would if I watched less TV or read fewer blogs!! I did manage to read an entire book while I was sick - but it wasn't even a "for fun" book. It was about budgeting and such. (It is by Dave Ramsey, and was awesome, by the way.) I used to read ALL the time, and for pleasure - but I'm just too busy doing other things these days! Good luck with all your reading!

awesome cards. I haven't scrap booked in a long time either. Then this weekend I got together with a bunch of great friends and had an all day crop at my house. We had a great time. I really love to do all this stuff but somethimes I just need friends around to inspire me.

Oh, I identify so much! I've put myself in a position on not having any time to read anything other than books for challenges or for paid work. It's frustrating.

The cards are adorable!
