swelling with pride

Okay, okay, I know it can be very unbecoming to brag about your kids. But you know what, I just can't help it today...I am so damn proud of Annie!

Yep, she did it! She finished NaNoWriMo! Her final word count was 50,287. I just can't believe she managed to crank out an entire novel in a month, especially considering the month she had!

I think all of you who participated in NaNoWriMo...Jean, Don, Chris, and of course, Annie...are simply amazing! Absolutely, positively, indubitably amazing! Congratulations to you all!

(Since no one was able to access Annie's profile at the Young Writer's Program (I guess it was for security reasons) , she posted a short excerpt from her novel over on her blog if you feel like reading it.)

That is SO amazing!! Congrats to Annie. She is a pretty special girl, that one. You have a right to be proud.

I posted a few weeks back my "proud" mom moment when the kids picked up their report cards for the first Q. My son Chad, just started Jr. High. He was one of only 4 6th graders (out of over 65) to make the straight A honor roll!!

Wahoo for smart kids!

I don't think there is *anything* wrong with bragging on your kids. With an accomplishment like that, she has earned to be bragged on a little by her proud mom! =)

Stephanie-

I remember that post...I loved it!!! It left me smiling all night!

Dawn-

You're always so sweet! Thanks!

I'm so frickin proud of her!!! :D Yay! I'm heading over there now! Wow, what an accomplishment for a 10 year old. And to make it even better, she could set her own word limit and she set it at 50K! I'm telling you Debi, that girl's gonna be something special! Well, she already is, but you know what I mean ;)

Congratulations, Mom! I'm glad you gave her the time she needed this week to catch up. Right now, I need to go wake up the other resident NaNo winner, who finished at 5:00 this morning. It was a good thing he doesn't have any classes on Fridays. He had only 5,100 words written as of Thanksgiving, but decided he could still do it. And he's been asking about Annie's progress since he knew they were both playing catch up this week. I'll wake him up with the news that she made it, too.

And smart kids are quite nice to have, though they do present their own unique set of parenting challenges, something a lot of people don't understand.

Oh, I mailed a box up your way today. It has Christmas presents for all but Rich (his will follow when it gets to me), as well as a couple of NaNo treats/rewards for Annie. So don't set the package aside thinking it's all Christmas stuff and doesn't need attention until later.

I am so proud of Annie, that is just so amazing! You have every right to be a proud parent, because that is so cool. Yay Annie! Now its time to get it published and go on tour.

Annie never ceases to amaze me! She's giving me more and more material to use on my upcoming article about her. I can't wait to get started on it and shout her praises. WOW!!!

Of course she finished because you have an exceptional daughter (of course that has a lot do with her exceptional parents!).

Wow!! Congrats to Annie! That's awesome!

And if we don't brag about our kids, who will? You have every right to brag and be uber-proud of her! That's quite an accomplishment!

Chris-

Thanks! You, of course, understand what an accomplishment it was even more than I. And thanks for the support you gave her during the process, too! Loved your comment over at her blog...she, of course, had to show me what you said about a trip to the bookstore! And rest assured, she's getting that trip and dinner out tonight.

Jean-

Many, many, many thanks to you for all you did for Annie!

I can't believe Don essentially wrote his novel in a week! Next year, I think he should go for a trilogy!

That "unique set of parenting challenges" you mentioned...one of the many reasons I am so grateful Travis got us acquainted! It has been an absolutely sanity-saver having you to "talk" to! True story.

I can't believe you sent us all gifts...could you get any sweeter?!! Annie will be so excited to get the NaNoWri Mo goodies. I printed out 2 of the certificates (hope that's not cheating), one to frame for her wall and one to put in her scrapbook.

Carl-

Thank you! It's amazing how much the blogging community has done for her and her feelings of self-worth. And a great deal of that has come from you.

Joy, Jennifer, and Annie-

Thank you!

Melissa-

You, my dear friend, are just too sweet for words! Having you write about her, in your beautiful style of writing, will truly be one of the most wonderful gifts Annie will ever receive!

Kara-

Now of course, I think Annie's exceptional...that whole parental bias thing and all...so I won't argue with you there. But exceptional parents...HAHAHAHAHAHA, oh how you make me laugh! One of the multitude of reasons I love you so.

Yeah...um...sorry about that bookstore thing ;)

Annie is amazing! I'd be swelling with pride if I were you, too. Writing a whole novel at her age! I'll head over to read the excerpt.
