Santa was here...

and he was very, very generous!

Now, I fully admit that I am married to a truly wonderful guy who loves me and tries to make me happy at every opportunity. But this Christmas, I suspect there was something more at play when it came to my pile of gifts. Guilt.

Yes, for 2 weeks in mid-January, Rich will be off in the sunny Bahamas helping teach a field class in marine biology. While I will be home taking care of house and children and animals galore. And most likely shoveling snow on a nearly daily basis. And while I am not looking forward to those two weeks, I'm fairly certain that they helped secure me one enormous pile of loot this Christmas.

Just a few of my favorite things from my sweetie...

Two new poppets (the orange and purple ones) joined our little family.

This little book journal isn't actually from Rich (thanks Jean!), but I had to show it because I simply love it! Jean actually gave one of these to Annie on her last birthday, and I've always coveted it. (I know, I know, not very becoming, but true none-the-less.) Anyway, this little journal is just so cool, with sections for books to be read, favorite passages, etc.

Season One of Jericho. I love this show...oh, how I hope they don't cancel it again!

And last, but most definitely not least...

Can you believe that pile of books?!!

*I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak

Holy Cow!! What a haul!! Mike is just too afraid to buy me books. (Actually I think he's afraid our foundation will cave in if I GET any more books!) That's a GREAT list!! I can't wait to see what you think about all of them!!

But for the record, I DID get a copy of the Jericho Season 1. NUTS! What a great show!

Can I just say WOW! LOL! So was each one wrapped individually?? What an awesome haul of books. Each one of those is incredible! And I love that journal. It's just too cool! I wanna see what Annie got too ;) You should tell her to do a post!

Totally awesome! I am so impressed. Well done, Robin. Way to soften her up for the trip!!! Which, by the way, I am jealous of as well.

I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on all these books as you read them, they all look terrific. I have several of these myself, many of them unread and waiting to be experienced.

I need to know who did the cover art on that copy of War of the Worlds if you don't mind, I love it.

Thanks so much for posting this, it is so fun and I'm really happy for you!

It sounds like you had a really nice Christmas. And, like Chris said, I wanna see what Annie got :P

Wow! How cool and if he's abandoning you to shovel snow on your own for two weeks, he should be feeling a little guilty!

Stephanie-

Uh oh. Now I'm worried about your foundation...'cause let's face it, we ALL know you'll be getting plenty more books! And hooray! It's nice to find another Jericho fan...I'm so afraid there's just not enough of us out here.

Stacy-

Thanks! And I hope you and Tim and Beau had a wonderful Christmas as well! Can't wait to hear what new books were under your tree!

Chris-

Yep, he wrapped each one separately! I was the last one unwrapping this Christmas. I loved the journal you got as well...they make great gifts, don't they?

Carl-

Isn't that painting fabulous? It's by Jim Salvati. (Whom I've never heard of, but that's not saying much! Is he someone you're familiar with?) This is one of those books that just looks like a little treasure...one of those ones that I can't seem to keep myself from picking up every time I happen to notice it. Anyway, am I right in assuming that it would qualify as science fiction?

Nymeth-

We most definitely did have a wonderful Christmas! And, of course, it was about so much more than all the books. My parents and brother were here with us, and we just had a really great couple of days! And by the way, I'm definitely going to tell Annie that she ought to show off her loot, too...some of which I'm going to be more than happy to borrow someday :)

CJ-

Yeah, I agree...but I've been trying really hard not to make my feelings too obvious. My mom told me I should have laid it on really thick to see what I might have come away with. But frankly, I don't think he could have been much better to me :)

Sounds like you had a well-deserved wonderful Christmas!!! Looks like you have plenty of books for joining more challenges in the new year!

Piles and piles of books! I didn't get any Christmas books because TBR Mountain was staring my husband and son in the face saying DON'T DO IT! But wow, you've got some great reads there! You'll have plenty to do while your husband's getting all tan.

I'm so glad you like the journal, not that I had any doubt whatsoever. I remember your saying when I gave Annie hers how much you coveted one. I just had to wait for the right occasion. :-)
