just babbling...

Over the hump. I've passed the half-way point now. And while it seems a million and three little things have gone wrong, nothing major has. Max did not break his fingers when he slammed them in the door (at first I was seriously worried that he might have)...we did not have to live without power for four days like many people just a few miles away did...heck, I haven't even had to shovel snow thanks to this freakish January weather we've had to this point. So, all in all, I'm extremely grateful!

And yet still I must say...I sure do miss my darling husband! I love getting his e-mails each day. It is so funny...I can tell how guilty he feels for leaving me with everything for two weeks while he's off in the sun and sand. It would be one thing if he was teaching a field class up in the Great North Woods or something, but to be in the Bahamas... He wrote that he will be putty in my hands for the next 4 to 8 years. Hmmm, I like the sounds of that.

I had to give Baker a bath this morning. Being within olfactory range was nausea-inducing. It honestly smelled as if he'd rolled in something dead. But frankly, I'm not up to going to check the back yard to see if this is true. I also think I'll skip dragging out the ladder to climb up on the roof to get down the goldfinch feeder that Gray just tossed up there. Yep, I'll just be saving those jobs for my guilt-hidden husband.

But I suppose it would be a good idea if I go finish the laundry and then rustle up some supper for the monkeys...

I read that you would be on your own for a couple of weeks. I hope it goes smoothly for you. Mothers can do ANYTHING they set their mind to! A husband with a little guilt is always a good thing to have :). We are supposed to get a bit of a snow storm tomorrow. I'm glad my Rich will be home to do the shoveling if we need it.

take care,
Dawn

Oh yeah, you're over the worst of it now! Just a few days and counting, and I know you guys will do just fine. Like you said, at least it's not snowing 4 inches a day and you're having to shovel till you can't breathe :)

Ugh on the dead-thing smell on the pooch. We've experienced that many times. I think my dog LIVES to roll in nasty smelling or dead things. Ugh, I don't envy you that chore :)

Hang in there and enjoy the time. He'll be back before you know it, having to shovel snow, give the dog a bath and retrieve stuff from the roof :)

You got me laughing here just a bit! I'm glad things are going fairly smoothly. Putty in your hands....sounds like a good deal to me! Hope the rest of the time goes by even more quickly!

I can see it now. Rich is going to need lots and lots of quality time with the monkeys, and you're going to need lots and lots of reading time. Here's hoping you coast through this week and into his return.

It sounds like you are surviving your single motherhood period quite well...I am thinking of you! And definitely leave the feeder on the roof for Rich - he'll be thrilled to remove it I am sure! And the next 4-8 years...cool! Maybe you should let him go to the Bahamas a little more often!

Guilt can be such a wonderful thing... when you're not the one feeling guilty, that is!

Sounds like you're coping very well. Keep it up and he'll be back in no time!

Half way there! Yay! I'm sure that he is having a really good time and is consequently feeling quite guilty about it!

I'm glad you're surviving.

Good luck with the rest of your time alone with the kids!
