can't think of a title

I am feeling like such a slug. The kids have the day off from school today, some kind of conference or something. Anyway, I made a conscious decision last night to allow myself to sleep in this morning. And sleep in, I did! I did not get up at 4:00am, or 5:00am, or even 6:00am! No, I didn't get out of bed until 6:30! I thought all this extra sleep would be a good thing, but now I'm not so sure. I think I'm more tired than ever, and definitely lacking in motivation. Probably has nothing to do with sleep though...more likely it's just bad attitude :)

I must admit it felt mighty good waking up and getting to tell myself that I could just go back to sleep though. But you know how when you're sleeping and waking up frequently, you often have very vivid bizarre dreams? Yep, definitely had that going on this morning. One of the most memorable: I decided to legally change my name to Vampirella because I thought it would give me a better chance of getting to meet Wayne Newton. Now that is just one creepy dream! In real life, I'd be much more likely to change my name to Vampirella if it would save me from having to meet Wayne Newton! The brain certainly is one fascinating organ.

I did make the kids French toast for breakfast, but that's about all I've accomplished. Some technique this kid has, huh? We really do try to teach manners around here, but, well, I guess we don't always get through.

And speaking of imperfection, I posted "10 reasons why our home will never grace the pages of House Beautiful" over on my domestic stuff blog. I also have a new post on my reading challenge blog...Joy just had to go host another Non-Fiction Five challenge. Actually, I was really hoping she would...I loved that challenge last year. Even finished it on time! I love reading non-fiction, but somehow it always gets pushed to the side (unless it's for homeschooling). This provides just the motivation I need.

Okay, enough babbling for now. Hopefully next time I post, I'll be a bit more coherent.

Ok the sleeoing in making you tired is one of two things. Either a) you just gave your body a heads up on how much sleep it is not getting & it wants more or b) all the waking & going back to sleep made for fragmented sleep cycles. A sleep cycle is roughly 45 minutes in length so the best sleep comes from sleeping in increments of roughly 45 minutes. That doesn't mean you wake up every 45 minutes but if you're waking up mid-way through cycles, it makes you more tired than just getting up when you wake up.

Errr... I know return you to far more interesting topics than me. LOL!!

Hey Vampy ;) You had me laughing in hysterics with this post Debi. I think you need to go back to bed if your brain is capable of thinking of changing it's name to Vampirella for Wayne Newton at this point, lol.

That french toast really does look delicious! Guess what I'm having for lunch now that I saw that?

And after my comments yesterday about being so good about challenges, I think I'm going to cave for Joy's Non-fic challenge :( Everyone had such a good experience with it last year that I just have to join!

Hmmmm Wayne Newton huh? That was funny. I know what you mean about those kind of dreams. I have them all the time.

The french toast looks mighty good!

I didn't sleep in this morning but I was asleep by 8:30 last night. I've been SO TIRED! I hope you felt well rested today!

take care,
Dawn

Oh, my, what a scandal! You didn't wake up until 6:30 am? You must be a lazy kind. :D

And those are some interesting dreams. Your brain sure has an interesting way of packaging everyday information.

I definitely need extra motivation to read more non-fiction too...like you, I do enjoy it, but it always gets pushed aside. So I think I'll give in for this one too.

Vampirella, lol! The brain is fascinating indeed.

I may have a PhD in psychology, but there's no way I'm gonna touch the whole Vampirella and Wayne Newton dream. Not even Freud himself would dare go there!

LOL. I like the sound of Vampirella. ;)

Vampirella, huh? I always want to write down my dreams, but sometimes when I have really weird ones like that I just don't want to remember them.

In college I used to sleep in until noon, but sadly those days are long over. 9a is really good if I make it that far!
