an quick look inside

I'm sure you all get the almost daily e-mails from Barnes & Noble, but I thought I'd post this anyway, in case anyone missed it and might be interested. It's just a short video of John Gall, who works for Vintage & Anchor Books. I forget what his official title is--VP of something or other--but what he does is design book covers. In this video he talks about his five rules of good book cover design. He designed the covers of Kafka on the Shore, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, among many others you'll recognize. Anyway, I just thought it was kind of interesting.

This is an interesting video! I love looking at book covers so it's great to hear the opinions from the designers themselves! Thanks for sharing! :)

Oh! Vintage is one of my favourite publishers! And this video was really well-produced: I'm impressed. Thanks for the link. :D

Hmm, I couldn't get that one to load, but I enjoyed looking at the book covers he's designed. I have a few of those books. Very cool!

The Barnes and Noble and Borders emails have certainly gotten more interesting over the last year with author interviews and videos and such. I don't think I opened this email when it came but now I'll have to check it out.
