utter silliness

A breakfast table conversation...

Gray: "Mom, why did you give me such a dumb name?"

Me: "I absolutely love your name! Why, what are you going to name your kid?"

Gray, without hesitation: "Pooh."

Me: "Pooh?"

Gray: "Yeah, it's a bear name."

Annie: "Kids will make fun of him at school."

Max: "I'm naming my kid Funk."

Gray: "O.K., if I have a boy, I'll name him Ironman. And if I have a girl, she'll be The Incredible Hulk."

Carl, I'm afraid I'm going to have to hold you personally responsible if I end up with grandchildren named Ironman and The Incredible Hulk! :)

So cute! I love his name too (having one in our family with the same wonderful name!) Can't wait to see what your grandkids will be named. Aren't you ready to be called Grandma?! LOL!

I think you need to conspire with your future daughters-in-law on this to make sure your boys don't get any naming rights! LOL!

Naming rights! When I was pregnant for the first time, I chose the girl's name and dear husband chose the boy's name. When number one was a son, dear husband won. When I got pregnant the second time, I noted that I should get to choose both a boy's and a girl's name. I had another boy. The older one (Donald Vernon) has family names from my husband's side of the family, and the younger one (Steven Preston) has family names from my side of the family. And since we stopped there, we'll never have an Anna Louise unless it's of the canine or feline variety.

Pooh's not such a bad name :) I was so afraid Britt would name Mackenzie something like Sunshine Buttercup!

Don't you just love children's conversations? :)

take care,
Dawn

I do what I can! Ah, it feels so good to be inspiring to the next generation! I'll be remembered in heaven for that... ;)

Love it! It's great the way kids pick Pooh instead of Winnie. My husband is still laughing to himself :)

OMG, that was too cute. Although, honestly the trends these days are towards unique names... some celebrities with names like Apple, Tallulah Belle, Hopper Jack, Reign Beau?

Gray is a great name! It took years until I finally liked my name (Tricia) and then I butchered it to Trish in a moment of freshman year rebellion--have never gone back to the former...although that is what my family and high school friends still call me.

Thankfully you have a few years before your kids have kids--hopefully the names will mellow out a little. :) Can you imagine introducing your little grandson as "The Incredible Hulk"! Ha!
