a dose of good stuff

I'm sort of giddy at the moment...

*For the moment, both my Google Reader and my dirty clothes hamper are empty!!! Not one, but two major accomplishments! (Yes, I know that by morning both will be full again. And I know that I still have 4.5 gazillion other things that need done. But come on, one needs to celebrate where one can, right?!)

*I tried Care's Baked Antipasto recipe last night. Artery-clogging good, let me tell you! Total delight for the taste buds.

*Book lists!!! Renay had links to several great ones. Becky also had a great link this morning. Oh, and I'm still grinning over the one Maggie was sweet enough to share to other day, and the one Eva posted a few days ago.

*Winter break is coming!!! This may well be my favorite week of the whole year...
a. Rich and the kids all have a week off from school.
b. My birthday always falls during this week, and though the thought of turning 45 isn't terribly appealing, the huge pile of books Rich has been accumulating for gifts--you know, due to that whole guilt over the Bahamas thing--should ease the pain a bit. ;)
c. The munchkins always go stay with my parents for a few days during this week.
d. As I did last year, I'm staying away from the computer for the whole week. Yes, I will miss it like crazy. Or more to the point, I'll miss you all like crazy. But I think it's good for me to fight the addiction once in a while. I hope to get much reading done, and hopefully some scrapbooking, too. I don't suppose I could convince you all to take the week off, too, so I don't miss anything, could I? :)
(I actually haven't decided when my "break" starts. Originally it was going to be Friday afternoon, but Rich and Annie are going off to visit and help out Rich's mom over the weekend, and then going to a lecture by Donald Prothero at the Museum of the Earth (a Darwin Day event) on their way home on Sunday. So I may just wait until Monday to start my break. After all, it's not like I'm going to get a lot of down time in over the weekend anyway...a lot of fun, a lot of mischief, a lot of laughing, but not likely a lot of curl-up-with-a-good-book type of relaxation.)

*Gray slept through the night last night! He's been having another really rough patch of insomnia lately. Poor kid. Wakes up in the wee hours and can't get back to sleep for hours. (Which also means I don't get to sleep, because he's too afraid to be awake by himself.) Fingers crossed he'll have another good night tonight!

Enjoy your week off, Debi! I'll miss you lots and lots, but it's good to take a break every now and then. When you come back you'll have to tell us all about those guilt-induced piles of books :D

A Darwin Day event! That sounds awesome. And I shall keep my fingers crossed for Gray.

Hey, fingers crossed that EVERYONE gets their full 8 hours of sleep. Including me.

Have a great break. I actually won't be subbing due to school vacation but I'm covering as receptionist for a real estate office which means I will have a TON of time on the computer! So, sorry - you'll have to read and comment on every one of my posts when you get back. ha!

Enjoy your break, Debi! You definitely deserved it, although that means I'll miss you.

Keeping fingers crossed that Gray will sleep better!

All kinds of good stuff! Birthdays, winter break, new books, sleeping Grays - sounds like life is good!

I'll probably be blogging less next week, because my sister will be visiting, so if that's when your winter break is, the two events will morph together nicely. Not sure what I can do about the other ninety-eleven blogs in my reader, though.

Have a happy birthday and a happy break! Don't worry about being 45. Some of us have shoes that old! Seriously, it's all relative. Hope Gray has some sweet dreams very soon (Mom too!)

An empty hamper and Google Reader is quite an accomplishment--I should know! LOL Mine are both full right now. Hopefully I can remedy that this weekend.

Happy birthday, by the way! I hope you have a good one. And enjoy your time away from the computer. You will be missed, but don't think too much about us. You deserve a break.

Oh dear, my google reader is never empty. I'm at around 200 new posts today. That's about average.

I'm still kind of on a blogging break as well, but I'm getting a few minutes here and there to catch up (hopefully will be able to get GR to 0 this weekend!). I hope you have a wonderful break--and a happy happy birthday. And a great Valentines. What else can I throw in?? :) How about hugs...?
