*Seriously behind on blog reading again. Actually I think this has just become a perpetual problem.
*After a break from "depressing" reads, I seem to be right back into it. Almost done with Fax from Sarajevo. Very good, but very, very sad.
*Annie is very excited about Teen Book Festival tomorrow. She's taking a friend with her, and then we're all going out to dinner, and then coming home for special dessert, and then the girls will be watching Marley & Me, and then will undoubtedly be up all night giggling in that oh-so contagious preteen sort of way. It's sort of like the beginning of a week long birthday celebration for her. Though I'm still secretly (well, not so secretly now, I guess) in denial that Annie is soon to be 12-years-old.
*Now at 75 pages in, I'm thinking that Jane Eyre may just be my surprise read of the year. I keep telling myself that I've got a long way to go, and that I shouldn't get my hopes too high, but thus far, I just can't get over how pleasantly surprised I am by this book!
*I'm so excited...I convinced Rich to join Herding Cats (hope it's not too late), and from what he told me his picks aren't even going to all be nerdy science books. ;)
*Am hoping that everyone has a wonderful, glorious weekend filled with things that make you smile!

Jane Eyre is so so good, and it gets much better as it goes! It was my surprise read from last year.
I love Jane Eyre. It is one of the books I've read more than once, and always find something in it I'd missed before. I adore the brooding Edward Rochester - hunka, hunka burnin' love there.
You really are tempting me with Jany Eyre - I shall have to search it out in my garage. I like the sound of a book festival - I would definitely enjoy one of those.
Glad to hear you're enjoying Jane Eyre so! Have to admit that I understand the 'surprise read' feeling. I reacted similarly. Then, I do have to admit that I have a special spot for the book as being the first English 'literature' book I read knowing it was 'literature' and the ensuing fear that I'd find it impossible to read and difficult.
A very, very pleasant surprise indeed. I hope you'll continue to enjoy the book as much as you have!

And I know just what you mean about Jane Eyre :D I had no idea it would be so awesome and so easy to go through. It's not a fast read, but I never felt like I was forcing myself through it.

Isn't it funny when you go into a book with any expectations - even when you don't want to have these expectations! and you find you LOVE it more than ... and/or hate it because you expected too much. It's such a strange phenomena or phenomenon (which is it? one's plural, right? both might work here...) Anyway, I know I read Jane Eyre but don't remember it. what I do remember is my resistance to reading it!!!!

I like the Classics. I have a great appreciation for the writing. But Jane Erye is one of the best stories!! I loved it!

I haven't joined Herding Cats yet! I must not give in.....but I love the title of the contest so much! lol And congrats to having an almost 12 year old around.....hope Marley and Me is as fun as it looks (we couldn't rent it, the store was out again) - I'm off to watch Twilight now, hope it's as good as my best friend who's watched it over 5 times now, says it is.....and I love Jane Eyre so fingers crossed you find it a really good read too!

Sounds like Annie has a fun birthday planned-I turn 23 on the 11th, which I'm reacting to with disbelief and a bit of nasea (sp?). I was only 20 when I began blogging! *sigh*

I'm also reading something about Bosnia, it's a graphic novel called Safe Area Goradze, and although I'm only at the beginning I think it's gonna be great! very informative.

oooh jane eyre is wonderful! and this is coming from a guy. yep, it does start a bit slow but it becomes amazing!
