just curious

Don't Miss Out! Go get yourself registered for BBAW (Book Blogger Appreciation Week)!

(How Amy pulls this all together is beyond me!!!)

*****

A "just curious" question: How many books do you generally have going at once?

I miss the days when I only read one book at a time, and yet I can't seem to go back.

Too many, to answer the question. Right now, surprisingly, I only have one! Well, no, I guess that's not completely accurate. I have three that I've read partway through and haven't touched in a few weeks, plus the one I'm in the middle of...

Haven't a clue what I just registered for as I didn't have time to read it, so completely trusting you. LOL - no pressure there!
I read 2 usually, but this week I am reading 3 at a time.

I usually have about 2 going at once, not counting my Bible of course. And they can't be from the same genre or I get confused!

I usually just read one book at a time or, at the most, one fiction and one nonfiction. One could say that I'm dull and boring, and they might be right. Or they might not be. :-)

I can read about one book at a time these days, which sucks because I would love to read more! 2009 isn't the year for it, I suppose. :)

Amanda,
Yes! That's my answer, too. Too many. If I didn't miss any, I've got eight going at the moment. Too many.

ScrapGirl,
Don't worry...I didn't get you into anything unsavory. ;) I promise!

Amanda,
Yeah, I don't think I could read more than one in the same genre either...I'm way too easily confused. :) Most of the ones I have going at any one time are non-fiction. Stuff I'm reading for school planning.

Jean,
Anyone who would say you're dull and boring definitely doesn't know you at all!!!!!!!

Renay,
Maybe we could switch places! I wish I could get back to reading just one at a time, because then I might actually finish one now and then. :/

I'm mostly a monogamous reader, although sometimes I'll read a fiction book with a nonfiction book, or more recently, a short story book alongside a fiction novel.

Right now I've got... Two, three or four out depending on how you're counting.

I'm stranded in two books that I really should finish. I read about half a non-fiction book for class which I should really get back to and a short story collection (that's huge) that I haven't touched in... at least a year.

Only two of them have any chance of my getting back to them any time soon. And I'm only reading two because I didn't bring the first for train-journey fodder, so the second got the reading time.

Maybe you should figure out what the maximum amount of books that'll still see you finish them is and then train yourself to stick to that number? (I've given up trying. Starting today, I'll be making lists again, though. It is time for summer lists or I'll get nothing done at all.)

"Monogamous reader." I do like this term; yes, I do.

If I try to read more than one at a time, something always gets neglected. So, I generally just read one. Sometimes two.

I used to read a few at a time but not any longer...one is enough!

I usually have a book at a time, but lately I've been juggling two! I love reading them alternatively, and it's great if I've no mood for one particular book and I know I've another book to fall on, LOL.

One! Once in a blue moon I will have two going at the same time but mostly just can't handle more than one! Fortunately I read pretty fast...

Yeah, I have way too many books going at once these days too :( That's why I never finish anything! Though I did finally read a whole book last night! Only it didn't have any words :p

So excited about BBAW by the way! I may have nominated you for a few awards...just maybe ;)

I think Jean coined a new phrase that I agree with! "Monogamous reader"
but you have many going because of home schooling! So that's not all "by choice" ..which still makes you remarkable

I'm monogamous, too. Sometimes/rarely, I have a nonfic going while I start(and usually finish) a fiction work.
PS - the Day the World Ended is actually not too bad! I'm clipping along with it. :)

I have went back and forth in my reading habits as far as this question goes. I grew up a 'one at a time' person and then sometime about 5 or 6 years ago I started having 4-5 books or more going at any one time. Then I purposely went through a period of forcing myself to start and finish books before going on to the next, which worked well for a time. Now I'm back to somewhere in the middle. I have 3 books going right now, I believe, which isn't too bad. ;)

I like having one fiction and one non-fiction going, but these days I only have time for one book. I can do one novel and one collection of short stories, but two novels doesn't really work for me.

I think I just do too much. I only read one book at a time and sometimes I can't find time for that! You are a reader I admire!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Poor Tim woke up crying yesterday morning because he teeth hurt. He's done well wearing the head. Last night we went out to get pizza and the poor boy couldn't chew it. I had to cut it up into little pieces!

Yes, it does hurt most in the purse!

take care,
Dawn
