too tired to think of a title

We're back from the annual family reunion. I love my extended family. Honest. I do. A lot. They're good people. But sometimes they drive me freakin' crazy! That's perfectly normal, right?

Anyway, it's over. Now maybe I'll find more time for reading. I've been pathetic so far this summer. Almost two weeks in on our unofficial start date, and I've only finished two books. Two. Isn't that sad? Of course, the not sad part is that I really loved them both. I read The Garden of Eve by K.L. Going on the way to the reunion. Loved it. Hopefully I'll get around to reviewing soon. But Kailana already wrote this great review, so I'm not going to stress myself out about getting it done.

Something I know I'm not going to get done is catching up on all your wonderful posts from this weekend. I so hate clicking that mark as read button...but man, it's amazing how fast that reader fills up, isn't it?!!

I'm so totally rambling here, aren't I? I apologize, but that's how the old brain is functioning this evening.

I should just throw on my pajamas and curl up in bed. I'm so excited...I'm going to start Terry Pratchett's Nation tonight!!!! :D Maybe I shouldn't, since I have so many other books going right now (Africa: A Biography of the Continent by John Reader and The Scientists by John Gribbin, both of which Annie and I read about half of for school last year and both of which I would like to just finish now because they're very good; The Starry Rift edited by Jonathan Strahan, because I have so many short story anthologies started and I want to finish some of them up this summer; The House with a Clock in Its Walls by John Bellairs, the book I'm currently reading to the boys; and Affluenza by John De Graaf, David Wann, and Thomas H. Naylor and Collapse by Jared Diamond, both of which I'm reading in preparation for the next school year), but to hell with "shouldn't"! I'm going to do it anyway, because I just really, really want to!

Someone needs to shut me up, don't they? Yeah, the rambling is only getting worse...

I love your ramblings! A friend of mine just suggested The House with a Clock in its Walls to me the other day! It looks really good.

And speaking of family reunions, ours is on the 3rd Sunday in July. Thankfully, it's only about an hour out of town, so I don't have to do too much traveling, but you know, they're just too stressful for me to even bring the kids out. I always go alone. If it was just my extended family, I'd bring the kids, but instead, its a colleciton of all the extended fam's extended fam, with 3rd cousins and 5th cousins and the 5th cousins of my grandparents...yeah. Like 100 people show up to this thing, and we have lots of the same food, and everyone's crowded and noisy. Still, my (1st) cousins will be there, and that makes the day worth it, because I love those guys to pieces.

(NOW who's getting rambly?)

Yes, it is perfectly normal for family to drive you crazy. It would be odd if they did not. Reading in pajamas is the best modes of relaxing that I know.

Hey Debi!!! I missed you dear :) Like everyone else, I love your ramblings :) I hate family reunions...I always feel like I'm putting on my fake face during those which just drives me nuts!

But as for good stuff, yay!!!! you're starting Nation!!! You'll love it, I promise. And you're reading The House with the Clock in it's Walls!! It's such a fun read, isn't it?

It amazes me how much reading you do.. mostly for and to the kids. I could never read those "have to" books for the schooling!

I hope you enjoy your Pratchett book. Thanks to Cath, who sent me the entire Bromilaid Trilogy in one book I am currently reading Pratchett too!

Missed you and love your posts! :)

Extended family are designed to drive us crazy. My dad's parents called us to tell us they'd be visiting ten hours before they showed up last month!!! And they ended up being here for their 50th anniversary, even though they wouldn't give any of the kids definite plans so that we could, you know, PLAN something, lol. (They took a road trip from FL to AL as celebration.)

Nation's pretty awesome! I bet Annie will love it too. :D

Man you've got a lot of books in the works! I think you should shove them all to the side and read a purely pleasure book just because. Glad the family reunion was fun--but I know what you mean about family driving you crazy. My mother-in-law has about 20 dogs (really, I've lost count) and 5 birds--it's pretty chaotic in their household.

Get some rest today!! And like the others said, keep the rambling coming...I love love love it.

Your message had that exhausted but running on adrenaline feeling to it, so I hope you stayed awake long enough to get some reading done.

You know what's this I'm doing right now? Yep: It's the Debi's-reading-Nation dance :D

Sometimes you just have to dive into that book you want to read regardless of what else you've got going on.

Can't wait to hear about Nation. I like the Terry Pratchett books I have read so far, but I haven't read this one.

A cracker is a real scorcher - a fabulous find. A bit of my essex girl side bursting out.

But we like your rambling, Debi... Don't shut up on our account!

I'm glad to hear you had a good time, but aye I too know the feeling of being driving crazy by them. It's normal. ^-^

Your book list, though, it boggles the mind. O_O (When do you have time to sleep, woman?!) But I agree with Trish. Read a purely for-pleasure book just because. ^-~ May you enjoy it too!
